Catford
Catford is an area of south east London, more precisely in the London Borough of Lewisham. It is one of the Greater London’s major centres. Its name comes from the area where in Saxon tomes cattle crossed the River Ravensbourne. Another theory is that its name is adopted from a legend saying that many black cats were drown into the ford because of the presence of witchcraft. Until 1889 Catford was part of the historical county of Kent.
One of Catford’s most prominent landmarks is the giant fibreglass cat which hangs over a sing for the shopping centre. It attracts kids and adults since 1970s.
