Finsbury
Finsbury is northern, indistinct part of the Borough of Islington in the City of London. It was once no more than a manor beyond the City wall and now is a prosperous area with ever developing grounds. It was first noticed in the 13th century then by the 15th a manor house stood was built where now Finsbury’ Finsbury Pavement and Finsbury’s Chiswell street lay.
The building in the area didn’t stop until the 19th century and it is now considered with more of a commercial use rather than a suburb- Finsbury Square and Finsbury Circus were both build in the beginning of the 19th century along with other constructions such as places of entertainment and dwellings.
A metropolitan Borough of Finsbury was formed from the parishes of St James and St John with many of the famous borough’s buildings being on Rosebery Avenue which is also from where Finsbury’s name came to be associated to the neighborhood’s name.
